The founder…
My name is Jack McCamley-Wilding and I am currently studying mechanical engineering at Strathclyde and have a passion for mathematics. I have always had an instinctive understanding for the subject. At school, I received As in National 5 all the way through to Advanced Higher maths and beyond. Recently, I left school in 2020 so have a great knowledge of the school exam system. Also, I can relate to my pupils concerns more than most tutors, due to this. I am devoted to trying to get more people interested in maths as I feel once it is understood fully, is an extremely rewarding subject. I am a national 5 and higher maths tutor. As I have a background in mechanical engineering, I do also offer physics tuition at National 5. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me regarding this as well. Jack
Matthew's Story
Matthew was one of Jack’s first clients, his Mum, Claire, had been in contact because he had failed his National 5 prelim unfortunately. Jack was then able to analyse Matthew’s performance and improve weaker areas in his maths knowledge. Over the coming months Matthew worked extremely hard and achieved a high A at National 5, which everyone was delighted about.
Matthew went on to take higher maths and with Jack’s help, he achieved a B. Although Matthew was a little disappointed with this result, Matthew’s family and Jack are exceptionally proud of his efforts and he has certainly come a long way from National 5!
Matthew now has an offer from the University of Glasgow and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors!
Company History
Glasgow maths tutor is a new company founded by Jack McCamley in 2023, that emerged after the success of bearsdenmathstutor.co.uk (founded 2021). Jack had taken a year out from mechanical engineering, during covid-19 to pursue other options. Here blossomed the idea of maths tuition, with an emphasis on young undergraduates helping other young students. He enjoyed a succesful 2 years in the Bearsden/Milngavie area, hearing great feedback from parents and students. He then decided to branch out to the whole of Glasgow ergo The Glasgow Maths Tutor Team was founded.
Company Philosophy
Our philosophy is in students helping other students. We find that young tutors and students can relate more to each other and this motivates both to do exceptional work. Many of our tutors have found working long hours in bars inflexible and dull. This is why all of our tutors enjoy the rewarding work we do so much.
Our Services
First and foremost, we offer maths tuition to secondary school pupils. This ranges from S1-2, National 4/5, Higher and Advanced Higher. One to one tuition is at a competitive rate of £35/hr. Certain tutors also offers physics tuition up to Higher, see more.

Relationships
We want our students to be able to relate to our tutors. As all of our tutors are still students, we understand the anxieties of exams and can work with students to better prepare and deal with these emotions.
Motivation
Our tutors work hard with students to motivate them to achieve their best work. Our tutors know every student is different and adjust their teaching style to ensure the student is always motivated.
Dependability
Our tutors will be available to teach students at least once a week and will always be punctual. We like to expect the same reliability, in return, from our clients.
